With it being Al’s Birthday we thought we’d splash a bit of cash and go on a kayaking trip. However after much discussion over dinner last night we both agreed we’d have more fun and save a lot of money if we hired one on our own and just went off exploring the caves and beaches along the coast line.
We went to a place where we hired a twin kayak for 150B an hour, hired a mask and snorkel for 50B and then set off. Pottering about, going in and out of caves etc we came to a tiny little beach and decided to stop to re apply sun cream and to do a bit of snorkeling. There wasn’t very much to see as it was so shallow but it was fun playing about with my new toy (My waterproof camera case, which is shit hot)
After a while we landed at East Rai Lei Beach and had a walk around looking at Phranang cave before finding a little boat selling food and beers. We got a beer and a sandwich and sat under a tree watching the world go by whilst enjoying a cold Singha. We both agreed this is the life. Was a pretty cool way to spend Al’s birthday.
As we arrived back at the beach we could hear people shouting our names it was a load of Thai girls from our bungalows. They were shouting “happy birthday Al” they are really funny they just keep asking “you go to Lunar tonight”. I’d love to say no….. but we will end up going out. Its Al’s birthday… it’d be rude not to!
